Child Welfare

DHS Parenting Collaborative

Since its inception in 2001, the DHS Parenting Collaborative has utilized parenting education to reinforce supportive behaviors of parents and caregivers, enhance parenting skills, and to teach alternative approaches to child-rearing as a means to prevent child abuse and reduce the need for child protective service intervention.
The Parenting Collaborative is managed by Public Health Management Corporation and consists of a network of over 65 providers that offer access to a variety of educational resources including essential parenting methods, child development information, parent stress management, anger management, and conflict resolution skills all from evidenced-based curricula.
NET’s parenting class consists of 12 classes and uses the evidenced-based Nurturing Parenting Curriculum, which emphasizes the importance of raising children in a warm, caring, and trusting home that guides them to be respectful, caring, and cooperative children. Nurturing Parenting philosophy believes that children who are cared for and treated respectfully will treat themselves, others, and the environment the same.
Parenting classes are available to any Philadelphia resident who is the parent or guardian of a child under 18. Gift card incentives are available for participants and a certificate is provided upon successful completion of the program. Referrals are accepted on a rolling basis and can be submitted to talia.jones@net-centers.org.
